During this time of year, there are many festivals and carnivals throughout the entire Rio Grande Valley.
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, in McAllen, Texas, has had an annual pumpkin patch that people from around the valley like to enjoy with their family. They set up the pumpkins around haystacks and design an area for storytelling and pictures. Many schools like to take their students on a field trip to this pumpkin patch so they can listen to stories and learn about the many different types of pumpkins. It has become a family tradition that many look forward to every year. There are also school festivals that have kids rides, face painting, and tons of food to savor.
While touring around Tres Lagos at the new homes for sale, you can make plans to visit the new McAllen Performing Arts Center, which is only a few miles away. There you can catch a Broadway show, musical, concert, or a ballet. Several Broadway shows coming to McAllen in December through February are: Christmas Wonderland Holiday Spectacular, Cirque Dreams Holidaze, The Wizard of Oz, and Dancing with the Stars Live. This venue is so spectacular that it will take your breath away upon entering. On December 2nd starting at 6 pm, the McAllen Holiday Parade will be present the Magic of Christmas. This is the largest illuminated parade in the Lone Star State. Your children would absolutely enjoy seeing the inflatable balloons, over 50 decorative floats, school bands, and Santa Claus.
The city of McAllen contains La Plaza Mall, which is the premier shopping destination in the valley. It features over 1,200,000 square feet of upscale shops and restaurants. This year, the mall underwent an expansion and added 25,000 sq. ft. of retail space. There are plenty of choices when trying to find that particular item that you are looking for. If you would like to do some bargain shopping, you can always take a drive to the Rio Grande Premium Outlets in Mercedes, Texas, which is about 40 minutes from Tres Lagos.
After shopping and attending all these festivities, you might be ready for a delicious meal. For steak, you may want to try Bob’s Chophouse, Sante Fe Steakhouse, or Salt. If you are in the mood for some Mexican food and award‑winning margaritas, try Koko’s or Costa Mesa. The benefit of building your new house in the Rio Grande Valley is that we are only about an hour away from South Padre Island. So, if you are in the mood for some fresh seafood, you can stop by Sea Ranch, Blackbeard’s, or Louie’s Backyard and then take a walk along the beach before heading back home.
Residence of Tres Lagos will not have to go too far for entertainment. This master‑planned community is surrounded by plenty to do. The three lakes are surrounded by picnic tables, BBQ pits, and filled with over 100,000 fish for catch and release. There are dog parks available for small and large dogs that I am sure your furry little friends will enjoy.
