Exciting News for Texas A&M!

Texas A&M University will be up and running in the fall of 2018! The programs of study allow students an opportunity to have a unique impact on the growth and development of their home communities without leaving the region to pursue an engineering degree from Texas A&M University. The students attending this location have the option of pursuing the interdisciplinary engineering degree in McAllen or relocating to College Station to pursue one of 18 degrees. All students at the Texas A&M University Education Center at McAllen will be part of the Aggie family.

Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University opened the Higher Education Center at McAllen because the university is committed to supporting the educational needs of Texas with top‑tier educational programs that will fulfill individual student career goals, enhance continued economic development of the region and help provide the necessary skilled workforce. This campus located inside the Tres Lagos Community has degree options that are focused on the issues that matter here in the Rio Grande Valley. At this $40 million facility, you will learn how to make a difference in the region and beyond. Feed the masses, cure diseases, and build the communities of the future. What a wonderful experience it would be to have your family living in the same community of Tres Lagos where you would be attending college.

McAllen Degree Options

The McAllen degree options are uniquely designed and specially tailored to meet the expected needs of the Rio Grande Valley. The following are the degree programs that you can study right near your new family home in McAllen.

Interdisciplinary Engineering (ITDE) Engineering, Powered By You

Interdisciplinary engineering degree program allows students to develop unique skill sets and specialize in areas that may not be provided in traditional department degree programs.

Multidisciplinary Engineering Technology (MXET) Plug In

This new undergraduate program emphasizes mechatronics, a multidisciplinary field that includes a combination of mechanical, electrical, communications, control and computer system.

Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) Just What The Doctor Ordered

Biomedical science is the broad field of applied biology related to health and disease. The primary purpose is to prepare people at the college level for productive futures in a changing world.

Food Systems Industry Management (FSIM) Food for Thought

This interdisciplinary degree will prepare graduates for management positions in food industries. Students will gain knowledge and hands‑on experiences in economics and international trade, food science and agricultural technology to provide a safe and accessible food supply.

Public Health Students

Public Health Students in this program learn how to create a healthier world. Among other things, they explore health disparities in underserved populations, struggles within America’s health care system and cutting‑edge innovations to fight the deadliest diseases.
